Pepo was invited to enhance the expansive grounds of the beautiful “Villa Nostalgia” located in Woollahra, during its most recent restoration by Luigi Rosselli Architects.
We selected a rich palette of lush varieties to invigorate the garden zones, focusing predominantly on white and green hues – punctuated by an eye-catching pop of bright pink Bougainvillea. Given the scale of the proper, Pepo worked to create a cooling canopy that skirts the edges and softens the hard lines of the house.
A Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei ‘Biloxi’ (Bioloxi Crepe myrtle) was positioned in the middle of the paving alongside the pool, which was renovated by KMD Construction, and this mature specimen was specifically selected to balance the expansive size of the home.
Neighbouring properties are screened by large-leafed foliage without detracting from the distant views, while bursts of sub-tropical planting serve to anchor the gracefully aged villa. In the seating areas, a selection of contrasting pots rest on crazy sandstone paving, planted with textural forms including Furcraea sp and fragrant Gardenia radicans.
The overall design is completed with lovingly-sculpted planters in the pergola area, hand crafted in Belgium by Atelier Vierkant in perfect keeping with this elegant home.
