The transformation of this McMahons Point property was significant and rewarding. Turning what was a small, dark house, into a contemporary, light-filled home was managed by the architects at Tribe Studio and many of the original materials were carefully preserved and celebrated.
Valuable conversations with the owners revealed their desire for beautiful scents and plant diversity, reminiscent of the gardens from their youth, which included classics like aromatic jasmine, gardenias and hydrangeas.
We laid a series of large steppers to entice visitors into the open-air courtyard with Viola hederacea (Native Violet) and hydrangeas filling the spaces around them. A barbeque and outdoor setting turn this tiny space into a functional outdoor living room where our clients now spend many hours in the warmer months.
Peaceful and low-maintenance, this private sanctuary offers a quiet respite from the busy world outside while intelligently blending old and new.
What the client says:
“Pepo’s design team worked seamlessly with our architect to carry the project from a conceptual idea, through Council and into reality. I love the artistic elements in my garden.”
