A considered and eclectic mix of native plants greets visitors at the entrance of this coastal Maroubra home. A smooth, white concrete pathway leading to the front door creates a sense of arrival, wrapping around a beautiful young Corymbia citriodora ‘scentuous’ (Dwarf Lemon Scented Gum) alongside the sculptural forms of the Cycads and Leucadendrons.

Given the property’s natural slope, a series of staggered terraces were installed in the rear garden to create a number of distinct outdoor spaces and embellish the pool area, with a focus on natural and recycled materials.

Designed to extend the floor plan of the house, an entertaining deck provides a transition between indoor and outdoor living with large sliding glass doors that open fully into the space. Planters filled with an abundant array of succulents and edible herbs overflow like a waterfall, offering vibrant colours and textures to offset the hard surfaces

The swimming pool above was sandblasted and installed with new coping, tiles and a wraparound wooden deck to upgrade this existing feature. Waterhousea floribunda (Weeping Lilly Pilly) was planted along the property’s boundaries, shielding the fences and providing privacy from the neighbouring houses at the rear.

Lush and enveloping, this garden is both an entertainer’s delight and a sheltered oasis from the outside world.
