Nicola Cameron established Pepo Botanic Design in 2000. Originally a visual artist specialising in photography and film, Nicola found landscape design and horticulture to be the perfect combination of creativity and growth. In 2007 James Perkin joined Nicola as a director of Pepo. James came from a career as a chef and with the combination of their backgrounds Pepo’s niche of ‘Functional, Sculptural and Edible gardens’, was born.
Pepo Botanic Design is now a team of landscape designers, landscape architects,visual artists, horticulturists and construction professionals. The team have worked with hundreds of clients to develop their gardens, courtyards, balconies, restaurants, rural retreats and outdoor spaces.
The company has developed a reputation as a popular choice for people wanting a creative approach to landscape design as well as adding value to their lifestyle, home or business. Pepo offers a complete landscaping service specialising in, landscape architecture, garden design, horticultural consultation, plant selection, construction and maintenance.
Pepo’s passion is to develop outdoor spaces and gardens that thrive. It is essential that our garden designs fulfil our clients’ design briefs which can range from “family friendly”, “private and intimate” and“sculptural and unique”, to “productive and functional”. We have great respect for our clients and every design is tailored to their individual brief.
The Pepo Botanic Design team will work with you to develop concepts for your garden. This includes selection of plants, materials, furniture and features. Once the concepts are developed, detailed drawings are drafted and plans are submitted toyour local Council, if required. Once the plans are complete, the design team liaises with the construction and maintenance teams to make sure the design intent is fulfilled.
The Pepo construction team has a range of skills including carpentry, paving, brickwork, irrigation, garden lighting, soil improvement and planting. Over the years, the Pepo construction team has earned great respect fortheir work with glowing testimonials from happy clients.

Nicola Cameron, the founder of Pepo Botanic Design, is a landscape designer and one of the company’s Directors. She graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in film and photography. After completing a Diploma of Landscape Design and Horticulture at Ryde TAFE, Nicola saw an opportunity to combine her love of plants, photography, sculpture and design, and established Pepo in 2000.
Nicola is passionate about the benefits of gardens, green space, the environment, design and the arts. She is also involved with many community projects and has worked with a number of community groups including:
- Learnscapes, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering and assisting school students to develop their playgrounds
- City Farm Community Group helping to promote the benefits of The CityFarm in Sydney
- Sydney City Council Advisory Committee for The City Farm providing advice to the Council’s City Farm Development Team
- St Canice Roof Top Garden Committee. Since Pepo provided the St Canice roof top garden with (pro bono) design and advice, Nicola has remained involved beyond the completion of the garden. The roof top garden is set up to provide food for the Soup Kitchen below and a place for the community and local refugee community to congregate, communicate, plant and grow.

Is a Director of Pepo Botanic Design. He has a Communications Degree and was previously employed in Advertising and Marketing. With an interest in cooking, he started a small business manufacturing bottled sauces. In 2006 he joined Pepo, having completed the Landscape Construction course at Ryde TAFE. He is focused on achieving high quality work that fulfils the design intent and the clients expectations.
Is the office assistant and joined Pepo at the beginning of 2012. She undertakes a variety of jobs within the office and is responsible for the programming of maintenance clients. She has a certificate in administration and has many years of experience of working within large and small office environments.
Has skills that span both garden maintenance and landscape construction. He has worked in the Pepo team since August 2014. Adam was a director of TruGreen Southwest in Devon, a UK company that specialised in garden design, horticulture, landscaping and garden maintenance. Adam was hands on across all the trades including management, sales and co-ordination. Spending 4 years in London working with Ten Lifestyle Management, one of London’s leading concierge companies gave Adam skills in research, overseeing projects, managing requests, communication and efficiency.
Joao Gabriel Galiardi Silva
Graduated as an Architect and Urban Planner from Mackenzie University (Sao Paulo – Brazil) and has worked as a Landscape Architect. In 2012 Joao and associates set up SAPU Landscape Architecture office in Brazil. The team designed, installed and maintained gardens. Joao has skills and knowledge in public spaces, green walls and private residential design and maintenance. He has an interest in developing gardens with design, layout and planting.
Has a TAFE Diploma of Horticulture (with distinction) and TAFE Certificate III of Horticulture (with distinction). He is a maintenance team leader with Pepo and has worked in horticulture and nurseries for over 15years in Milan (Italy), Townsville and Sydney. Managing staff to develop gardens by sharing knowledge, giving constructive feedback and direction is one of Gianmarco’s skills. His communication with clients and management means the garden he maintains are being constantly developed and reaching their full potential. His highly motivated and passionate attitude is infectious.
Gus loves to get his hands in the dirt and describes plants as “one of his favourite personal hobbies”. Growing up on the NSW south coast, he was surrounded by a big garden full of native plants and spent his childhood surfing and racing around on a bike. After graduating with a science degree from Sydney University, Gus set up a garden irrigation business, before completing Diplomas in Horticulture and Landscape Design at Ryde TAFE.
His love of plants led Gus to a wholesale plant nursery in Dural where he spent five years learning about hundreds of species, before joining the team at Pepo. He is passionate about plant selection and enjoys creating inspiring and thriving gardens.
